Homelessness is an old problem and traditional charity support can be unsustainable with little emphasis on the reasons people become homeless, such as unemployment, family or relationship breakdowns, illness and, debt, nor on a model for their return to independent living.

Using the power of business, Spark aims to encourage a new way of thinking so that organisations operating in the homelessness sector are sustainable, are no longer dependent on sporadic funding and can make a more sustainable difference in preventing and tackling homelessness.

The Spark approach – which challenges the traditional model of a not-for-profit charity – is not only applicable to organisations offering homelessness services but can be applied across the whole ‘voluntary’ sector.
